Natalie started to explore treatment options to restore volume in her breasts following the birth of her son. Natalie had read about Macrolane™ and after further research decided to seek a consultation with Dr Maurizio Viel, at the London Centre of Aesthetic Surgery. This is Natalie’s treatment diary.
“I wanted to have fullness restored particularly in the upper part of my breasts which, following 8 months of breastfeeding had really lost shape. A temporary treatment appealed to me because I want to have more children in the future.
Consultation
My consultation with Dr Viel answered all my questions – mostly related to how soon I could get back to work and start exercising again. He reassured me that he would be able to restore fullness and shape to my breasts and that the result would look and feel natural. He was also explained that my breasts would feel sore and tender for a few days; and that they would feel firmer than I am used to.
Treatment Day
I am back at the clinic for my Macrolane treatment. My partner has come with me and I confess to feeling both excited and nervous. After Dr Viel made sure that I am happy to go ahead, I sign the consent forms.
After checking my blood pressure, Dr Viel marks up my breasts and explains where the gel will be placed. He also takes photographs I can later compare with my post treatment photos. He even suggests that I might want to show them to my friends. I wonder!
I am gowned up and taken into the treatment room. As I lie down I have butterflies in my stomach but I relax as I know I’m in good hands. The local anaesthetic stings a bit and then I feel nothing.
The sensation of having Macrolane gel injected is a weird, but not painful. Amazingly I see my right breast increase in size before my eyes. Dr Viel gently massages the gel into place. My left breast is treated and then, before I know it, I am sitting up looking into a mirror. I am amazed – I now have round, perfectly shaped breasts!
Shortly after treatment the nurse gives me an aftercare leaflet and reminds me again that my breasts will feel sore and tender for a few days. She gives me some painkillers and tells me not to get the area wet and avoid showers for 2 days. Going to the gym is not advised either until my breasts settle down.
As I dress I marvel at how my breasts fill my bra - I am over the moon! Smiling from ear to ear, I say my goodbyes to Dr Viel. Later that afternoon I take a couple of pain killers – the local anaesthetic has worn off. The feeling is best described as discomfort; my breasts feel tender and full.
The Day After
The tenderness has greatly eased and I decide to go into work in the afternoon to clear some paperwork off my desk. Everyone is amazed to see me and cannot believe that I am up and about!
A week later
A week later I return for a check-up and post treatment photos. My breasts still feel a little firm but are gradually softening. The photographs really show the difference, and yes I think I will show them to my friends! I spend the rest of the morning shopping for new lingerie and a dress to wear at a friend’s wedding.
I never wanted to have big breasts, I just wanted to them to feel and look more sensuous. Macrolane treatment has made a huge difference to me, a big boost to my confidence and self esteem. It’s great to feel sexy too!"
